What is muscle contraction?

    A muscle contraction occurs when a muscle moves, ie., lengthens and/or shortens. I think, however, you are asking about a muscle contracture, which is a permanent shortening of the muscle which can be caused by prolonged immobility.

    if you are talking say example if you are flexing you biceps the part that pulls is the one under where you elbow is the part that relaxes is the place above the elbow IIII ^ when arm goes up ( relaxes ) IIII | | IIII_________ | ____________/ | ^ | | | |__________________| bottom part pulls
