1. meverett04

From the picture, which ray cuts <ABC in half? Which letter is inside the angle??

2. BLITZ506

D

3. meverett04

4. metarock

well we cant really say that BD will be the angle bisector as values of X and Y are not known

5. BLITZ506

these are angle bisectors i dont think you need x and y values

6. metarock

it is given 10y degrees .. so they specify angles

7. TuringTest

I think you do need x and y... visually it looks like A to me, that's why we need to check

8. metarock

if y were to be 2 then we could be sure that bd was the angle bisector

9. meverett04

See the marks for angle ABD and angle DBC, they are the same; therefore, the angles are equal; thus, ray BD bisects angle ABC

10. TuringTest

oh i missed that, you're right I think

11. BLITZ506

lol got alot of replys here and i still have more questions to ask

12. metarock

but they are labelled with 10y and 8y+4 degrees

13. metarock

14. TuringTest

so we can find y by setting them equal

15. metarock

if we were given that BD was the angle bisector then we set them equal and say that y=2

16. Hero

Yeah, it's BD. There's no other ray that will work

17. TuringTest

meverett and Hero are right, there is a congruence marking, so that is the answer.

18. metarock

any other question regarding this?
