Take x to be cost of a scarf and y to be of a hat, 4x+6y=52 and 2y=x+1 Now solve the equations. x=7

Let the cost of one scarf be a and the cost of one hat be b. Then you get two simultaneous equations in terms of a and b. The equations are 4a+6b=52 & 2b-a=1 Take 4a+6b=52 as equation 1 and a+1=b as equation 2 Multiply equation 2 by 3. Then u get 6b.-3a=3 Take this as equation 3. When you subtract equation 3 from 1 you get 7a=49 Then a=7
