Computer science is more about studying computation, and formalizing notions of space and time.

Other parts of computer science are also concerned about the practical implementations of these formal notions of computing i.e. computer engineering, artificial intelligence, etc
Computer science is more about the theory behind the scenes, the development of methods to implement applications and computer systems. It may involve developing programmes and making computer systems functional. It can be very abstract and involve rather complex mathematics. I'm about to start a course on the other side or stage, I will learn more about the hardware, networks and operating systems and their interconnections. IT is more about using computers and helping others to do so too - with luck, have you tried the on/off switch etc.
I wouldn't agree CS necessarily has anything to do with formal notions of space time
Computer science includes the study of the theoretical concepts behind computer languages, operating systems, memory management, data structures, and others. It is the theoretical foundation of computation and information management that all computer systems are built upon. You can also contrast this with other disciplines such as Applied Computer Science and Information Technology which deal more with the implementation of the theoretical concepts.
Computer science, at its simplest, is applied mathematics.
