What conversion factor were you given? It could be in the rounding.

    1 inch = 0.0254 m exactly so 1 foot = 0.3048 m exactly 1 yard = 3' = 0.9144 m exactly From 3180 m to yards, divide 3180 by 0.9144 From 3180 m to feet, divide 3180 by 0.9144 and multiply by 3. Note: 3180m= 3477.690289.... yd is the correct answer.

Perhaps the answer key is wrong, perhaps you had a typo in the question. Is the question 3180m or 3150m????
