Basic question is: Put yourself in the position of a prisoner in a concentration camp. A dying Nazi soldier asks for your forgiveness. What would you do? In The Sunflower, Simon Wiesenthal raises that question for readers to wrestle with, and they have been passionately doing so ever since.

I think I would forgive him, but then again I wouldn't. I mean, he killed a lot of Jews, ruthlessly, and now that he's dying, he all of a sudden wants forgiveness! I know I'd hate to die knowing someone wouldn't forgive me so I would forgive him, but probably not whole-heartily considering all that the Nazi soldier has done.

Come to think of it, after I forgave him, I'd give him a good kick or two...
