    You really ought to learn the special right triangles. You are going to need them many times.

    This is a 45-45-90 right triangle. So you know both legs are the same length. You also know if a leg is x, then the hypotenuse is x sqrt(2) In this case, the leg is length 4, so the longest side has length 4 sqrt(2) You could also have used the pythagorean thm to find the answer. Do you try on any of these??
