    subtract 14 from both sides and use the quadratic formula or complete the square which might be easier.

    Because I added 4 to the left side to complete the square. Whatever I did to the left, I have to do to the right.

    The 3. It is positive so the parabola opens up. The 5 is the y coordinate of the vertex.
