    The possible rational roots of the first equation are +-1, +-2. Let's use synthetic division to see if any of these possible roots are actually roots.

    With a little help from Mathematica: \[\left\{2 x^3+5 x^2-200 x-500=0,(x-10) (x+10) (2 x+5)=0\right\}\left\{x^4-x^3-11 x^2=x+12,(x-4) (x+3) \left(x^2+1\right)=0\right\} \]
