Hi.does anyone know how to know when a parabola opens up or down?

    If the parabola has a co-efficient that is positive it opens up, if it is negative it opens down.

    When the coefficient of \[x^{2}\] is negative it opens down and if it is positive it open up

    a parabola normally opens up; y = x^2 to flip it , you negate it
