What was the task system during the 1660- 1750?

    It was a labor system for slaves that allocated a number of tasks that they had to complete before the end of each day after which they could use whatever free time was left to do whatever they wished, such as tend to their own gardens. It required less supervision and allowed slaves a considerable degree of autonomy.
