Distinguish between active and passive transport

    Active transport requires the hydrolysis of ATP to provide the energy for the diffusion of molecules going against their concentration gradient. Passive transport requires no energy as molecules freely pass down their concentration gradient.

    to add on Active transport : Low concentration -> High concentration Passive transport : High concentration -> Low concentration [does not require energy in here because molecules tend to move from an area of high concentration to low concentration
