As far as I can see, everything looks fine. You lost me for a while on equating the coefficients, but if you input it into a matrix, you still get the same inconsistency (and I'm pretty sure I just screwed up the coefficients in my head).
Is there any alteration I shud make?
I'm still not completely sure how you solved the coefficients, but you were correct in getting it so alpha was an imaginary number (I tried to solve the system of equations sans matrix and got different numbers, but it was still imaginary in the end). I'd say you're fine with what you have.

Your method was probably a lot faster, so I'd keep doing it the way you did. I either use matrices or substitution of variables, which I find a little easier to keep track of. They're essentially the same things though. I tend not to subtract or add equations when I use substitution like you did, so I couldn't figure out how you got your numbers until you showed all the steps.
