Write the augmented matrix, and use row reduction to solve. {2y=x+1 3x-2=y

    put the equations into a standard form x y constant -x + 2y = 1 3x - 1y = 2 or, using just the coefficients -1 2 1 3 -1 2 now use row reduction (make the 3 in the 2nd row zero)

    then back solve: start at the bottom and solve for y. use y's value in the top row to find x
