    \[{a+ib \over c+id}={a+ib \over c+id}{c-id \over c-id}={ac+bd +i(bc-ad) \over c^2+d^2 }\]

simplifying complex fractions is like dividing numerical fractions because 16/(5/4) is the same as \[16/1 \div 5/4 \]
