    A tangent line is a line that touches the curve at only one point (for the most part), yet does not cross the curve.

    The tangent line would look like this. Notice that it intercepts the curve at x=2

    So in other words, the tangent line has the same slope as the curve at x=2

    Just by looking at the graph, I'd guess about -1/2.
