Its single locality - Japan It allows for various "Beliefs" to be held at the same time, followers also practice other religions. There is no god as such, ancestors are held in highest regard. It contains/uses many folk beliefs that are accepted as such. It is more a way of life rather than an organised religion. Shrines can be anywhere including in the home.
