    x^2 + ax + b = 0x^2 + 2x - 14 - a

    (x-7)^2 = x^2 -14x +49 - so than can you continue it ?

    x2+ax+b=(x-7)2-a x^2 + ax + b = x^2 - 14x + 49 - a, right?

    Subtract x^2 from both sides: ax+b = -14x + (49-a)

    So a = -14, b = 49 - (-14) = 49+14
