    We have \[\frac{x^2+x-42}{x+7}\] zero of x+7 is -7 ____________________________ -7 | 1 1 -42 -7 42 1 -6 0 so the quotient is x-6 \[\frac{x^2+x-42}{x+7}= x-6\]
