For the first one, mark -1 on the y axis. That is the y-intercept. Then from that point, go down one and right 4 because the slope is -1/4

    -1= -1/4x-1 Is that right?

When the second equation is solved for y, we have y=1/2x-4 So mark -4 on the y axis and from that point go up one and right 2 because the slope is 1/2.

We see that the lines cross at (4,-2) and that is the solution of the system.
