First, you need to know that cot B = 1/tan B so if we can find tan B, we flip it to get cot B tan B = opposite/adjacent opposite=4 adjacent= ? to find adjacent we use pythagoras: a^2 + b^2 = c^2 here a=? , b=4, c=7, so: a^2 + 16= 49 and a^2= 4916= 33 so a= sqrt(33) putting it together: tan B= 4/sqrt(33), and cot B= sqrt(33)/4
