Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I found this while crawling around the web that might help you: http://books.google.com/books?id=7T3qECx0CLUC&lpg=PA85&pg=PA85#v=onepage&q&f=false In short, strap rails seem to be what you might be looking for. These were wooden rails with iron "strapped" on top of them with nails. And as you can imagine, they weren't the best long term solution.
