    I assume typo: y = 12 is horizontal line x = 12 is vertical line They are linear equations.

    any variable with an exponent greater than 1 is not a linear equation such as x^2 = 12 is not linear. just look for the highest degree (aka highest exponent

    and x = 12 technically isn't a function nor does it have slope so it isn't even a "line" by mathematical standards i guess
