what does relative extrema mean?? local or global extrema.

    extreme means the highest/lowest value of a function, local extreme means highest/lowest value on a givin interval global estreme means highest/lowest value on the whole interval that the function is defined

    what i meant was whether relative extrema means global or local maxima?? which one out of the 2??
