"The UN Charter was signed on 26th June, 1945. On 24th October, it formally came into being when the charter was ratified by 29 nations including the five permanent members of the security council. " I dont get the difference. :/

    When something is signed, it is agreed upon, when something is ratified it is put in action, it is legalized, the Charter was official in 24th October, but was created and agreed upon in June 26th. This is the definition of ratified: To approve and give formal sanction to; confirm.
