@zarkon @jamesj I want to consider this matrix [[-1 0]],[1,0]] ...how do they get this matrix [[-1/sqrt(2), 1/sqrt(2)],[-1/sqrt(2), -1/sqrt(2)]]

    I think it is a rotation matrix that I'm suppose to be using...I just don't see it

    good. The second matrix is a rotation (anti clockwise) of the plane 5.pi/4.

    Yes, the product of those two matrices in your last post is not the original second matrix, obviously.

    ok ok...I got it I'm doing a one round of QR-RQ using rotation on a 4 by 4 matrix and I don't know why they decide to use these rotations

    It is okay @JamesJ I think knowing the process for now is good. I can always ask what the point is later. I have candidacy exams I'm studying for.
