You are confusing the rule of "it." Only the word "It" has that rule...The only time an apostrophe is used for it's is when it is a contraction for it is or it has. Make sense?

" trees " means that there are more than one tree " trees' " means that more than one tree possesses something " tree's " means that one tree possess something, aka bark
