directrix are you sure that it means empty set, i think we use phi between the brackets for that. and how is necessary that A complimentary will be B? check my diagram. it says that only A and B are present yes, but thats fine. doesnt mean A union B wil be the universal set!

The second one is correct, because, a set and it's complements will ALWAYS be disjoint. I'm bad at set theory, but all I took was algebra 2.
