We have \[-52<8-5k\] Add 52 to both the sides \[0<60-5k\] Add 5k to both the sides \[5k<60\] Divide both sides by 5 \[k<12\] It has a line graph under it from 9-17 so te solution for k will be from 9 to 12 , not including 12

Open Circle implies that 12 is not included
