we can go another step too\[{(p^a)^{b-1}p\over p^b}={(p^a)^{b-1}\over p^{1-b}}=(p^a)^{b-1}p^{b-1}=\]but as far as what do do with the \(\mod ab\) I have no Idea I have a sneaking suspicion we didn't help pre-algebra at all, he's pretty smart. @pre-algebra again, you should really address more of your problems @Zarkon or @JamesJ, or @acrosss these are the people who are most likely to be able to answer these kinds of question
