Ross is constructing two similar boxes shaped as similar rectangular prisms. The larger box has a height of 20 inches and a square base of side length 12 inches. If the smaller box has a height of 15 inches, what is its volume?

Yeah, looks correct to me (although it may help to show how you got that 9 for him). then volume s just product of the three dimensions together (including both 9's)

The similar boxes can be made into ratios: \[\frac{20}{15}=\frac{12}{x}\] \[\frac{12*15}{20} = x = 9\] The volume of the smaller one is H*L*W, where L and W are both equal to 9. Volume = 9 * 9 * 15 = 1215 cubic inches.
