OP=p OR=.8p p=1.25OR OP-OR=PR p-.8p=PR 1/5p=PR PR/OR=.2P/.8P=1/4 So the triangles are similar by AA similarity. The ratio of the areas of similar triangles is the square of the ratio of the corresponding sides. So (Area of triangle PRS)/(Area of triangle POQ)=1/16 = 5/x Area of triangle POQ=80 Area of Quadrilateral ORSQ= Area of Triangle POQ-Area of Triangle POS=80-5=75 |dw:1333015750160:dw|
4/5...OP, not 4/50 P grrr
see its not given but, when i apply the formula to the PRS triangle, the area formula of a triangle its giving and conforming that prs is a right angled triangle
Made a typo: Area of Quadrilateral ORSQ= Area of Triangle POQ-Area of Triangle PRS=80-5=75. That's what it should say.
Mertsj, you forgot area of PRSQ?
What are you talking about , PRSQ? What is that? |dw:1333018214856:dw|
What do you think its area is, baddinlol?
|dw:1333018324710:dw|
He means ORSQ, you wrote POS or PRS is 75
I corrected that typo.

Did you see that post?
PRS = 80, ORSQ = PRS-5 = 75 ;) I know what you're saying
Anyway, I'm done.
http://www.cambridge.edu.au/education/resource/pageproofs_16_652354.pdf question is here go to exercise 15d
@Mertsj Area of quad ORSQ = Area of triangle POQ - 5
@RISH SHARMA , do you have the answer? is it 20 cm^2?
nah its 120 cm ^2
sorry, that is what i meant... why don't you look at it this way.... |dw:1333019256794:dw| triangle PRS is similar to POQ. so theres a dilation factor of 5. so area of POQ must be 125.
since PRS is 5, ORSQ is 125 - 5.
