How many elements should be there in total if all th 7s 7p 6d and 5f block are to be full
anonymous
  • anonymous
help me here please ^^^
anonymous
  • anonymous
doesnt 7s fulfilled mean that 1s,2s,3s,4s...6s fulfilled..how can 7s be filled wothout these getting filled earlier
anonymous
  • anonymous
ok ok I thought that it was saying to calculate elements in nly these 7s, 7p ...
anonymous
  • anonymous
i think the question meant how many elements would you find in the periodic table if elements were discovered upto that which has filled 5f shell
anonymous
  • anonymous
so 7*2 means - 2 for 1s, 2 for 2s, 2 for 3s, 2 for 4s, 2 for 5s, 2 for 6s, 2 for 7s =14 14 for 4f , 14 for 5f = 28 10 for 3d, 4d, 5d, 6d = 40 6 for 2p, 3p, 4p, 5p, 6p, 7p= 36 TOTAL = 118 elemets I GUESS IS THE CORECT ANSWER

NO NO u was mistaken in taking 5 * 14 while there are no f orbital for 1, 2, 3 so it was 2*14 and u took 7*6 but 1 dont have p orb so it was 6* 6 also 6*d should have taken as 4*6 bcz thr are no d orbital for 1,2,

although Im not sure abt my answer...I would lke anyone to verify my answer
anonymous
  • anonymous
instead of writing 5f, i wrote 5*14. and to do shortcut,u make some mistakes
anonymous
  • anonymous
i didnot make the mistake of couting d... i know which n corresponds to which l....although it may look different, i know it was computation mistake...i had it right in my mind........so i realize that jaldi karne se galti hota hai

ok ok r u sure ki this answer is right??

checked again and again this time..dont feel so...feel pretty confidant...which class are u in...ur question gave me an opportunity for revising atomic structure. thanks

ok tell me n, l,m for 3px orbital my answer is n=3 , l= 0,1,2 and m= 1, 2, -1, -2 m I right???
anonymous
  • anonymous
for m , its -l to +l , that includes 0 . so -2,-1-0,1,2. remember that number of values of m is equal to 2l +1
anonymous
  • anonymous
obvoiusly -0 =0
anonymous
  • anonymous
also magnetic spin quanum no= +1/2 , -1/2 and what u said above that m= 0,1,2 ,-1,-2 OK? ha ha -0 =0
anonymous
  • anonymous
it may sound simple, but one day i was asked to prove -0 = 0 . even that + - we use has a lot of mathematically hifis attached
anonymous
  • anonymous
m= 2l +1 . so there should be 5 values of m , putting l =2 and m ranges from -l to +l

ok next one is- here 0.280g of Fe is treated with excess of (BaOH)2. Cal the weight of precipitate. eqn is Fe2 (SO4)3 + 3Ba(OH)2 ---> 2Fe (OH)3 + 3BaSO4 (at mas Fe-56, Ba-137, O-16 H-1 S-32)

  • anonymous
would u prefer i do by unitary method,or ratio method, or poac theory or number of equivalence
anonymous
  • anonymous
my answr is 1.165 gm please chk , and do wth any method i just need to chk answers

0.28 gram ferrous sulphate or fe?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Ferric ions sorry
anonymous
  • anonymous
0.28 gram of ferric sulphate then?
anonymous
  • anonymous
this is the point to think---> 0.280 of Ferric ions is reacted .and we have to find BaSO4 (which is precipitate)
anonymous
  • anonymous
mine is coming 0.1498. dont your book have ans at the back
anonymous
  • anonymous
no please share steps
anonymous
  • anonymous
number of equivalence for any reaction is constant. number of equivalence = weight of sample divided by equivalent weight. do it in your calculator. valency factor ferric sulfate is 6 and that for ferric hydroxide is 3
anonymous
  • anonymous
ok i will do later i think i need to re think. now next Determine the molecular formula of a compund which contains 2.19% H, 12.8% C , 85% Br . 1g of compund occupies 119 ml of volume at stp .
anonymous
  • anonymous
take ratio of percentages and atomic weight. then take them to their simple whole number forms. ths gives ratios of atomicities of compoung..i.e emperical formula...
