The midpoint of a line segment with end points as (x, 4) and (-2, -2) is (2, 1). What is the value of x?

    Midpoint is halfway between the two lines so you add each component and half it to find the middle coordinates. You can construct the following equation for the x component to solve for x: (1/2)(x + (-2)) = 2 -> x + (-2) = 4 -> x = 6
