My daughter is having problems with the answer key to the NROC Ap Physics Chapter 2 test. The answer key seems to be wrong. The first question is: A 45 kg block is at rest on a 40oslope. A force of 430 N is acting on the block up the slope parallel to it. The block does not slide up the slope, what is the minimum value of the coefficient of static friction between the block and the slope? a. 0.528 b. 0.786 c. 0.273 d. 0.205 The answer is given as "c" but we get 0.436. Are we doing something wrong?

N= mg cos 40 Fr= friction F= Force applied=430 N Fr= Force due to friction=\(\mu\ mg\ \cos 40\) Now Gravitation force opposing upward motion=mg sin 40 So if the block is not moving , then \[F=Fr+mg \sin 40\] \[430=\mu mg cos 40+ mg sin 40\] I think you are right, I am also getting 4.3
