okay sorry lost the connection 4 a bit.... okay enter the points given for the first question into the formula for slope which is M=y2-y1/x2-x1 i hope that helps! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
wit the info given i think u should b able to answer the 2nd question! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
c for number 1 ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
um no actually its a) -3/2..... want 2 know why?
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes please I'm having trouble understanding this .
anonymous
  • anonymous
okay so given the info they gave u the points (-2,4) and (2,-2) since ur using the formula M=y2-y1/x2-x1 u plug in the points so... y2=-2 y1=4 but since u have 2 subtract u would have M=-2-4 this wouls be ur numerator for the denominator u have that x2=2 and x1=-2 but u have to remember that since ur subtracting the -2 and the - sign cancel so now.... ur equation would look like this... M=-2-4/2+2 then solve, and simplify and u get ur answer! :) i hope that helps! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
So i basicly make a table of this ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
what do u mean?
anonymous
  • anonymous
like an x and y input ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
well i dont think u have to u simply plug in the info given inot the formula for slope.... wait..... r u confused about something?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Yes what do you mean by plug in ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
i mean that with the information given put in the numbers given into the formula such as....(-2, 40 and (2,-2) ..... okay let me organize the info 4 u.... y2=-2 y1=4 x2=2 x1=-2 then u put these numbers into the formula M= y2-y1/x2-x1 dont worry about M it just indicates that this is the formula 4 slope i hope that helps! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
allright do you have to go soon cause if you can i want to go threw my pretest with you .. if thats fine .
anonymous
  • anonymous
sure but wait.... what level of math r u taking?
anonymous
  • anonymous
im taking algebra 1
anonymous
  • anonymous
okay im pretty sure i can handle it......
anonymous
  • anonymous
bring it :)

Identify the correct x intercept and y intercept of the equation x - 2y = 8. Answer x intercept = (8, 0); y intercept = (0, 4) x intercept = (-8, 0); y intercept = (0, -4) x intercept = (-2, 0); y intercept = (0, 8) x intercept = (8, 0); y intercept = (0, -4) how do i find this one ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
give me a second.....
anonymous
  • anonymous
okay 4 this one u set each variable equal to zero.... so.... ur equation is x-2y=8..... so.... u can set x or y equal to zero so... i pick x so u have 0-2y=8 u divide by -2 on both sides and... tell me what u get....
anonymous
  • anonymous
can you show me an example with one of the choices ? like what i have to do so i can do it with the rest .
anonymous
  • anonymous
sure um well for that one that u showed me u have x-2y=8 so basically, if u want to find y then instead of having x u would have 0 as in 0-2y=8 u would then divide by -2 and ull have y=-4 and u would do the same for x instead of having y u would have x-2(0)=8 and ur x would be 8 i hope that helps! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
-_- i still dont get it
anonymous
  • anonymous
sorry I'm so dumb
anonymous
  • anonymous
lol its okay ur not dumb :) i'm in Pre-calculus and i fell like i'm the stupidest one in that class! lol :) I feel that way 2 but okay back to Alg 1 so dou understand that u could actually get the answer to this question by plugging in the answer choices and checking if the correlate with the equation?
anonymous
  • anonymous
ok give me a sec im gonna write it out
anonymous
  • anonymous
one sec
anonymous
  • anonymous
u r not taking a long time at all :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
ok so I got D for my answer

anonymous
  • anonymous
over achiever im not done! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
ok let me know
anonymous
  • anonymous
why do u think its c?
anonymous
  • anonymous
i pluged in all the values and that one gave me 8*5+4*6=64, which would give me 72 I guess correct me if i got anything wrong
anonymous
  • anonymous
using "plugged in" Love it! well ur wrong in..... no ur not!!!! at all Great yob!

Choose the equation of the vertical line passing through the point (-4, 2). Answer x = -4 y = -4 x = 2 y = 2
anonymous
  • anonymous
wat is the q asking?
anonymous
  • anonymous
the vertical line passing threw the points
anonymous
  • anonymous
a?
anonymous
  • anonymous
okay um wait why do u think its a?
anonymous
  • anonymous
wait nevermind got confused what do i have to do for this one ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
ummmmmmmm im kinda confused 2....... with the answer choices
anonymous
  • anonymous
no i got it it is.......
anonymous
  • anonymous
i was like do i have to plug in or what haha
anonymous
  • anonymous
boy u got it right it is a! because u plot the points and see what point based on the choices....it goes threw and ur right -4
anonymous
  • anonymous
:D yess ,,, just asking are you a girl or a boy cause you have a girls name and a dude as your pic
anonymous
  • anonymous
lol i'm a girl i just like Bruno mars and i dont have a camera to prove it... im all female dont worry im no sum kind of predator or something

Choose the equation of the horizontal line that passes through the point (-5, 1). Answer x = 1 y = -5 y = 1 x = -5 Im guessing it would be d or b
anonymous
  • anonymous
ur guess of d would be right !!!!!! not b..... why d u think that?
anonymous
  • anonymous
i graphed it and gave me a horizontal line
anonymous
  • anonymous
okay but did it go through (-5,1)???
anonymous
  • anonymous
yeah
anonymous
  • anonymous
ummm let me check sumthin
anonymous
  • anonymous
wait hold up no it neither b or d its actually a, bcuz its a horizontal i kept thinking it was a vertical..... sorrry
anonymous
  • anonymous
its ok (:
anonymous
  • anonymous
but u got it right?
anonymous
  • anonymous
what you mean ?
anonymous
  • anonymous
lol do u understand y it s a and not b or d?
anonymous
  • anonymous
yeah because b and d are vertical i guess
anonymous
  • anonymous
yeah!
