    when co-ordinates are shown in magnitude as well as angle ,unlike cartesian co-ordinate where only magnitude is shown

    instead using x,y rectangular coordinates to identify a point on a plane, you can use r, theta for it's position instead.

    there is more than one way to express the same position in polar coordinates
