    The Second World War was an economic boom time for California, since all of the military materiel required for the war in the Pacific flowed through California ports and airfields.

    But all of the American citizens of Japanese Descent were sent to government camps for the duration of the war, as it was feared that they may help the enemy - Japan. Many were very loyal to the U.S. however, and this created many difficult feelings between the Japanese-Americans and their neighbors. wmw
