    Decide which platform you want to learn and how much effort you can put it. For Windows you can start learning simple 2D graphics using Direct2D. For cross platfrom, you can try OpenGL. Either one of them will require time and effort so it's not gonna be that 'simple' ;)

    SDL is quite nice for raw, portable 2D graphics and other interactive stuff.
