computer virus's are put on ur computer mainly from downloads. They also can move around your computer and commonly hide from protection services like norton and mcafee in the system 32 file.
also if you leave them alone for long enough they can crash your computer completely or steal valuable information.

@Miss_Deva I dont think they evolve. Most viruses are either created of some sort or used to help fight it in the immune system.
