we can't control it lol..it's controlled by autonomic nervous system only but it can work itself since it has pacemaker

Well, think about it. What happens if you go to sleep, or forget? HINT: cardiac muscle is heart muscles.
why was i taged in this lol
Lol, I think it is a good imaginative question ---> If cardiac muscles were voluntary - suicide would be much easier :P On a serious note, we would have to remember every moment to keep our heart beating - the moment we forget, we would start having convulsions, and that would remind us to start it once again. And i f I seem to talk nonsense, that's all that can come from a non-bio student.
@apoorvk , WHAT ABOUT SLEEP?
hmm... auto-pilot mode? :P
I think that's why such a reality would violate the laws of evolution - our cardiac muscle cells have evolved such that they can keep on working without rest - as we have evolved too (from very early organisms)
The answer is simple though, we could voluntarily stop it..
Well, our heart provide blood all the way in the body, if it made voluntary, than we will be like non living thing, which we can treat as we like to. For living thing, in nature it is set in our body n all living thing, which cannot be change or control by us.
I would say, it is a "life" or "death" question.
If it made voluntary, then entire living thing cycle in the universe destroy, it is would be huge destruction, if it in our hand, if something goes then it will be the cause of huge destruction.
If something goes wrong, it would be hard to handle
It isnt sound study question?
Really cool question..:P and I think that the answer is pretty obvious too as everyone here has rightly pointed out..^^
We would spend all our time making our hearts beat or we would die because they didn't beat.
i kinda hungry from all this reading lol
um what are we talking about here i agree with the first reply the body has its own pace maker so we dont have to worry about it our body i so interesting
