In Mathematical terms, the first quartile (designated Q1) is equal to the lower quartile which cuts off lowest 25% of data or is equal to the 25th percentile. The lower quartile of the following data set: 33, 39, 44, 27, 51, 48, 37, 39, 29 is 33.
