    Perhaps the only reason why a monopoly would be good for a business owner is the ability to set prices without fear of competition. It is NOT good for quality, consumer choice, or govt funding. This is why in the U.S. and many other countries we tend to encourage competition and discourage monopoly except for certain areas of production such as water, electricity, etc where the costs of the infrastructure is so large. wmw
