Cheerio! We've got a delicious release here for you this morning/afternoon/evening. First of all, bugfixes: * The pencil icon will now only show for the question you are actually replying to. * Users are no longer allowed to report their own content as abusive (sorry). * Some bugfixes to the moderator toolkit. (Nothing big, really.) * Some smaller stuff that's not quite as important. And, last but not least, this release is the first one where we've implemented compulsory email verification. We've auto-verified users with a smart score equal to or higher than 35 who have logged in sometime in the last two weeks. New users will be required to verify their email by the fourth session on OpenStudy or they will be presented with a lockout screen informing them that they must verify their email before continuing to use OpenStudy. We had a big Q&A about email verification here: http://openstudy.com/updates/4fd677e2e4b04bec7f179a18 Let us know if you have any further questions / something seems broken / you have a cool looking pet emu. :D
wow, people reported themselves?? and congrats on the getting the email thing done! You guys are so flippin' awesome ;D
I have a cool looking pet chicken.... :D Does that count against Emu? :)
Emu > Chicken.
:P Alright then. Be that way against my awesome chicken.
Cool fixes. But you guys have got to try and make OS a little faster.
It's probably your browser. OpenStudy works great for me. :)
We do try, constantly, @pratu043. It's just not as easy as flipping a switch. ;) We've got some stuff that will probably make the next release that will move some array sorting we're doing on the browser to the server. That should help some.
What's up? math and os feedback --- same questions
Shift and refresh, buddy.
Okay, so shift and refresh works every time I use it, but I am having to use it every, single time I want to switch which subject I am studying.
I see math questions on OpenStudy feedback. What's up server?
I think the site is badly broken - lots of people are reporting very strange behaviour. I have also posted all my findings in this group.
Yeah, we found some pretty nasty bugs in our code that had to do with guest users. All fixed up now. :)
And another new thing is: you get an email saying who closed your question.
i wonder if i will get an email if i close my own question...lol
What about if a question is deleted? Will people get an email notifying them that someone deleted their question and who deleted their question?
I'm still getting OS mail sent to my spam box....
You said I been auto-verified already? This was suppose to fix the OS mail not going to the spam/bulk box?
Or was it a fix for the regular mail that OS sends out and not the mod reports?
when i say mail, i mean email of course.
Closed question notifications were implemented awhile back. This isn't going to instantly fix the problem. It will, instead, reduce the number of emails we're sending, reduce our bounce rate, and therefore decrease our spam score in spam filtering algorithms. The best thing you can do to help is hit the "Not Spam" button on messages that get filtered incorrectly. That helps us too.
Never got those notifications before...Oh maybe no one has ever closed my questions except me before. lol. Ok. Thanks.
But people don't get deleted question notifications?
Why is it important to notify someone through email of closed questions but not deleted questions?
Well, if your question is closed then the status of your question has been changed, but you can still interact with it. (For example, to ask why it was closed.) Deletion - not so much. Your question has been blown away. What good would a notification about that do you? Besides, if your question was blown away due to abuse, a moderator would have been in touch with you via other means.
I don't understand why a notification is needed for closing a question still. When people come online, it is obvious there question has been closed.
their* stupid english
lol sorry @shadowfiend english sucks sometimes
My question doesn't really matter. I don't care I guess about getting extra emails from OS.
We've decided to follow the general rule of "If something is worth notifying you of on the site, it's worth sending you an email about." That said, you can turn them off from notification settings.
I wasn't trying to say those emails are worthless... I was trying to say I don't care about getting those notifications. So that I said, I think I will turn those off now. Thanks.
I got locked out :o help
oh wait nevermind...that was a different account..i thought lgba got locked out
seems it wasnt that bad contrary to the rumors
