    First we would distribute 2(x+8) and get 6=2x+16-5x. Now we will combine like terms and get 6=-3x+16. After this, we will subtract 16 on both sides and get -10=-3x. Once we divide both sides by -3, we get x=10/3. At least that's what I got.

    6=2(x+8)-5x 6=2x+16-5x 6=-3x+16 6-16=-3x -10=-3x -10/-3=x 10/3=x
