can anyone give me more explanation on stationary wave ?

    a stationary wave is formed when a progressive wave overlaps on itself after reflection at the banks...u could see them in a jar of water after hitting it....the wave stands still ...so it is called stationary...and most importantly energy is not transformed in a stationary wave
