I go to a question to help a student, and next thing you know, two "shadows" pop up. What do I mean by shadow? I mean basically a user with no pic or profile that appears to be a guest but I suspect that it is not a guest but rather someone with a hidden profile lurking in the background like a hidden spy. Is that the kind of stuff that's going on nowadays? Because if it is, I don't like it. I personally think its kinda creepy. P.S. Don't be creepy

I at least would like to get a confirmation on "other than guest" shadows.

I think all users should have accounts. Guests are creepy by default.

    (a) Show us a screenshot so I can understand what it is that you mean by shadows. (b) These may be guests (guests have a gray background and the white outline of a person instead of a regular avatar). (c) We are not getting rid of guests or requiring accounts. There is nothing remotely creepy about someone who is not logged in looking at a public forum like this one. You have zero expectation of privacy regarding the contents of your chats, questions, or replies. It is all public, and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

at work, i tend to shadow around on here to keep an eye out. But those are just people who are not signed on looking in on a question. Either they have a similar question and are to timid to ask it; they might be the asker that has logged off since they are in the middle of a test and dont want to get caught; they might be a random passerby from the internet checking out the inner workings of the openstudy. in any event; dont get too creeped out by them ;)

Did you get your honest answer? I saw too good answers here, Shadowfiend and Amistre. Think of them as diffident or uncommitted. As they see how things work, we will convert them to actual folks. Its all good!
