And no this is not an isolated case. Has been like this all day. Only thing I can this of is that high school might be back in session?
Hey @richyw ! The only thing I can say here is to report things like this. We don't want OpenStudy to turn into some teenage drama show starring Lindsey Lohan or something (hehe.."Mean Girls") . As for the making a University math group, that is up to the admins.
This is a problem of the moderator either the lack of moderators or mods who fail to manage this website as well as it should be.
We cannot control users on the site. We can only take preventative action in hopes it won't again.
However, if they fail to abide by the rules after a certain amount of warnings, then we will help them control their behavior on the site by not allowing them on the site.
I think you guys think you can handle the flow of this site but as it gets bigger, a lot of things tend to slip away. I don't know why you guys are so afraid to give up some of that control to the users of this website.
It is also the community's job to change the community. If you don't report it, then it might go unnoticed.
If you report it, then we will notice. So please be so kind and report. Thanks.
I get tired of reporting the same person over and over again when they keep giving out examples. Makes me feel that you guys don't care when I see nothing going on.
Oh! We do care. I for one care a great deal. I love OpenStudy. Things do get taken care of...You may not get to see all that goes on, but stuff does happen. Report it and for sure things will get handled. I said this before but I will say it again: If the community has a goal in mind, then it is also up to the community to change to meet that goal. If you want things to change, you have to take action. I cannot go to every question on this site and see if everything is going according to plan. So if you see something going against OpenStudy's plan, please report it and a mod/admin will happily take action.
Sorry I didn't meant to say you don't. I know you guys do but it feels like you don't when things like that happen. We the community try to do everything we can to support this site and we are trying to push it to the right direction. Have you guys thought of what to do if this site goes to the wrong direction. Where we see more answer seekers and people giving answers away than people who actually want to learn? Just trying to warn you guys that it can happen. Thanks for all the hard work by the way. :D
how do I report?
Do you see in your post under your reply "Report Abuse"?
Or not yours...but mine.
Because you can't report yourself lol
Awesome! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. :)
"I get tired of reporting the same person over and over again when they keep giving out examples. Makes me feel that you guys don't care when I see nothing going on." Ryan, there are no users that I can find who you have reported multiple times in the past few days save one instance where you reported the *same* reply four times, which isn't the same as reporting various multiple instances of abuse. I recently cleared out my inbox for abuse reports, however, so I'm sure if one of the other mods finds differently they'll chime in and correct me. As always, I understand your frustration when you see things like this happening. However, there are very good reasons that a majority of our actions resulting from abuse reports happen without you seeing anything - which I will address here because you're not the first user to ask about this in recent days. More times than not, working one-on-one with a user who has been reported yields more favorable results than publicly discussing the problem in the thread. This is a fact that we've realized through trial and error. It's largely a judgement call left up to the moderator and my own personal decision tends to vary on a case-by-case basis. BUT, that doesn't mean nothing is happening. Being cautious about how we engage users who violate the CoC has, at least anecdotally, resulted in a larger percentage of those users saying "I'm sorry" and agreeing to follow the CoC from then on out. I know that's not exactly satisfying from your point of view, but I hope that it is at least helpful to understand the method to our madness. :)
Why can't you report yourself? Like, for example, I put a really bad word below: █████
