    yes A. Trade connections gave Islam a presence in cities and ports where merchants went. B. Muslim missionaries first traveled throughout North Africa, and armies followed later. C. Islam slowly converted the peoples of North Africa without a military takeover. D. Muslim armies carried their faith west across the top of the entire continent.

    Well take a look at the timeline. By the 7th and 8th centuries, the Arabs had conquered Spain and Sicily, drawing off their bases in North Africa, notably Tunisia and Morocco. They launched their invasions from there to annex Sicily and Spain respectively. They used it as a military based. The Arabs converted by conquest, especially during the Rashidun and Ummyad Caliphiates.
