wiki? what does that mean actually saso?
a wiki is just a collection of organized information where users can add and edit the information created.
Oh k ... like wikipedia?
hmn but can't that be created as in other site? also ... I don't know much about this all but I want to remember you that similarly : we have a gr8 discussion about a "tutorials section." it was not much complex as your idea is but just think that if mods do not agree with this idea of tutorials group then why will be willing to do that?
idk about any tutorial group discussion going on and i'm not informed but if that's the case, then i guess i might as well not do this lol :P
This idea will take a lot time for mods/admins.. This is good in putting an idea in their mind but actually the truth is that openstudy does not support tutorials/notes. It is basically based on live to live answering so that the user can interact with us and clear all doubts... The implementation of this idea is far away unless this site is made for "posting tutorials and offline answering".. I know that I am going against myself.. as I had also posted tutorials but I had decided to stop that now unless I get a gr8 info. to share with you all. Making a new section/wiki for tutorials posting will be complex for users and you/admins who is going to that work.. I will say that this idea is nice enough but "far enough" for the journey of OpenStudy in the world of internet of education... Many admins/mods will like to present their opinions here... so, I will say that just wait for their opinions that is not mainly the deciding factor but yes that is 50% though.. here is the link where the demand of tutorials section was discussed : http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4ffdc138e4b09082c06f0d7b
Weeee! Nice idea!
A tutorials section is not fancy for OpenStudy... but an independent tutorial site may be created :) I support you on this!
*independent tutorial site* that completely changes the idea given by saso here.. parth since the tutorials are made in this site and they contain latex and drawings so I think that will be next to impossible for most experts unless there is a god of making projects etc. to shift these tutorials to the other site
I don't want to hurt your hard work saso.. but I just presented the points as per my opinion ... best of luck
Mathjax may be installed on ANY GIVEN SITE.
the idea is to make a wiki where people can reference other ppl to who need help to ease the helping process. sometimes you have to engage with the student. but sometimes the student has to do some reading. if the reading reference is created by users here, i think it helps, but of course it can't be on OS since it will drift the purpose of OS. i'm only suggesting to create it as an extra (external reference) to the site directly so that ppl who want to read or learn in their spare time, can go there. it could even be more than a wiki, but i want to stick to the wiki idea for now.
So you only need is the permission of users and admins to shift(copy) the tutorials to the wiki
Honestly, I still have no idea why people on this site are creating tutorials when they can reference people to other resources as well. *sigh*
exactly, and even more could be made, that is :)
exactly to which my comment or to parth saso? just confused
"Honestly, I still have no idea why people on this site are creating tutorials when they can reference people to other resources as well" - because it's openstudy, duh! that's what we do :) we do what we love ;) and we love what we do xD
Correction: because it's medals No offence...
exactly, we love being awarded for our efforts, and thanks to medals, that's possible. unless you don't like awards :) I'd rather be awarded for creating something than link someone to something i don't get awarded for. you're more likely to get a medal for a tutorial than linking someone to something external :)
I think this is not the discussion about why people post tutorials Hence this should not be continued here... I request you both
I think that it already it decided, isn't it?
To be honest, if you choose to build a wiki, there's no reason for us to stop you. But we can't build any integration for it at the moment (in a perfect world, you could use that wiki by logging into OpenStudy, but we can't implement the infrastructure that would allow that to happen right now).
oh, that's okay :) thanks for the response
